What is a Bernedoodle?

My thanks to Swiss Ridge Kennels for first breeding this wonderful mix.  A Bernedoodle is a mix of the Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle and creates the hybrid vigor benefits of combining two pure breeds.  Poodles, as many people know are very intelligent dogs with hypo-allergenic qualities in addition to the fact that they don't shed.  Bernese Mountain Dogs (Berners) are known for their affable, docile nature and desire to be near their owners.  Unfortunately, Berners generally don't live past 7-8 years which is sad.

The Bernedoodle really combines the best of both breeds!  Bernedoodles are clever, smart, non-shedding/hypo allergenic (poodle) + sweet, docile, and cuddly (berner).

This is the first dog we've welcomed into our home and so far, couldn't be happier.  Below is a picture of our puppy, Macie at 6 months old.  She's currently 9 months and we're all "enjoying" her puppy adolescence.  This blog will focus on what we've learned about Bernedoodles and some tips as well.  We'll mention (and link) products that we've found to be useful based on allergies and what has worked for us.  Please feel free to comment, syndicate, and contribute.
